The online launch of the Cyprus Futures initiatives took place on 7 June 2023. Here we unpacked, explored and discussed the four scenarios for the future of Cyprus until 2035. Four newly released scenarios for Cyprus are promoting widespread dialogue about the island’s future prospects.
A diverse group of Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots developed these scenarios in recognition of the changing and uncertain context in which the island finds itself. The set outlines four different possible futures looking towards 2035, incorporating the multiple concerns of Cypriots today including and beyond the Cyprus problem.
The initiative applies an internationally validated methodology that has been applied at national, regional and global level over more than three decades.
Questions during the session
This process has been about imagining different futures for the island of Cyprus. A big part of this involves opening up the conversation for wider dialogue around the scenarios and the future of Cyprus. During the online session we asked participants to respond to two questions around hopes and concerns for the future of Cyprus. Their responses can be seen below.

Muhit Ince
Businessperson
Muhit was born in 1985 in Famagusta, Cyprus. In 2015 and in 2021, he founded HMI Glocals Trading Limited and S.N.A Glocals Trading Limited respectively that have become the first focusing on the Green Line Trade by selling products from various sectors all around the island. He is the former President of the North Cyprus Young Businessman Association, currently managing two companies.
Michelle Kari
Partner
Michelle Kari is currently a partner and managing director at NINOS KARIS PROPERTY CONSULTANTS. In 2019, Michelle founded LEDRA ESTATES, the only property firm in Cyprus and perhaps Europe which deals exclusively with the management of historic properties and helping with their services and expertise, in the architectural and cultural preservation of Cyprus’ heritage.
Ipek Borman
International Relations Expert
Ipek is an International Relations expert and academic. She was previously involved in the negotiations towards the solution of the Cyprus problem as a core member of the Turkish Cypriot negotiation team. She is a civil society and peace activist.
Marcos Zambartas
Entrepreneur, Winemaker
Marcos Zambartas studied Oenology at the University of Adelaide, and Chemistry at Imperial College London. Since 2014, he owns and manages Zambartas Winery in Agios Amvrosios community. Marcos has been involved in many active civil groups from student councils to charity organisations and has considerable experience in leadership positions. He is currently a member of the Board of The Cyprus Wine Consortium and of the Board of Cypriot Wineries.
Mille Bojer
Director
Mille Bojer co-founded the Reos Partners offices in Johannesburg, São Paulo, and Geneva, where she is now based as Reos Director for Europe and the Mediterranean. She is an established thought leader and facilitator in the space of social transformation and collaborative systems change. Previously, at Pioneers of Change, she developed expertise in facilitating learning communities, hosting dialogue, and building networks and organizations.
Michelle Parlevliet
Senior Associate
Michelle is a process facilitator, peacebuilding practitioner, and writer who works with diverse groups and organisations to bring about social change. She brings 25 years’ experience in design and facilitation of dialogue, strategic reflection and learning processes, having worked at community, national, and international levels in Southern and East Africa, South and SouthEast Asia, and Europe. Her substantive expertise focuses on peacebuilding, conflict prevention, human rights, access to justice, transitional justice, and development.
